Meet Pastor Walter Jamie Hawkins: A Life of Worship, Legacy, and Love

Born into one of gospel’s most legendary families, Pastor Jamie is the nephew of Bishop Walter Hawkins, Edwin Hawkins, Tramaine Hawkins, and Lynette Hawkins. Yet his journey is uniquely his own.

From his early days as Youth Pastor at Love Center Ministries, to now leading Transforming Love Christian Center (TLCC) in Oakland for over 12 years, Pastor Jamie has walked with people through joy, loss, healing, and transformation. His ministry is marked by loyalty, humility, and unwavering faith.

A gifted worship leader and musician, he has shared stages with gospel icons like Kurt Carr, Richard Smallwood, The Williams Brothers, and Tye Tribbett. Prior to ministry, he also worked in the mainstream music industry, collaborating with MC Hammer, Mariah Carey, Lauryn Hill, Destiny’s Child, Boyz II Men, and En Vogue. This rare background allows him to speak powerfully across both cultural and spiritual spheres.

In 2023, Pastor Jamie suffered the heartbreaking loss of his beloved wife, Myiia, with whom he raised six children. Through grief, his message has only grown richer—with hope, truth, and grace flowing from a heart that has known both great pain and deep healing.
