Pastor Walter Jamie Hawkins was born into gospel royalty. He is a proud member of the legendary Hawkins family, whose music has touched generations and transformed worship around the world. His relatives—Bishop Walter Hawkins, Edwin Hawkins, Tramaine Hawkins, and Lynette Hawkins—helped define the sound of modern gospel music. Pastor Jamie carries this powerful heritage with humility, forging a path that’s uniquely his own, grounded in love, faith, and authenticity.
From Love Center to Leading with Love
Pastor Jamie’s journey in ministry began at the iconic Love Center Ministries, where he served from 2006 to 2011, first as Youth Pastor, then briefly as Senior Pastor. Those early years shaped his deep compassion for others, his unwavering devotion to scripture, and his commitment to walking with people through both brokenness and breakthrough.
Today, he leads Transforming Love Christian Center (TLCC) in Oakland, California, where he has served faithfully for over 12 years. His ministry is marked by integrity, humility, and strength—not just preaching the Word, but living it, shoulder-to-shoulder with his church family. Whether celebrating or grieving, Pastor Jamie walks beside his congregation, always pointing them back to Christ.
A Life Between Two Stages: Ministering from the Church and the Music World
What sets Pastor Jamie apart is not just his ability to preach—but his ability to reach. Before stepping fully into pastoral leadership, he spent over 15 years in the mainstream music industry (1992–2008), working alongside some of the most iconic names in music history: MC Hammer, Mariah Carey, Lauryn Hill, Destiny’s Child, Boyz II Men, Jodeci, En Vogue, and more.
This experience didn’t distract him from his faith—it deepened it. It gave him a rare perspective on how culture and faith intersect. Today, he ministers with profound relevance, able to speak both the language of the church and the heart of the world.
When he sings or speaks, you hear the influence of his past—but it’s always anchored in the transforming power of Jesus. His message is clear: God can use every chapter of your life to bring others home.
A Worshiper with a Voice That Moves
As a gifted worship leader, Pastor Jamie’s voice doesn’t just fill the room—it fills the soul. It carries the weight of legacy and the light of grace. Over the years, he has ministered with gospel greats like Kurt Carr, Richard Smallwood, The Williams Brothers, and Tye Tribbett—each moment an encounter with God’s presence.

A Life Touched by Grief and Guided by Grace
In 2023, Pastor Jamie suffered a profound personal loss with the passing of his beloved wife, Myiia. Together, they built a life of worship, ministry, and family, raising six beautiful children and pouring themselves into the church they helped grow.
Through this loss, Pastor Jamie’s faith has only deepened. He often shares:
